Halo 5: Guardians set for 2015 release

Today, Bonnie Ross of 343 Industries revealed news about the next installment to the Halo franchise.

Writing on Xbox Wire, she described the future of the Halo franchise is a journey, so-to-speak, and not a destination. This franchise has been the flagship series to the Xbox console and will continue to seek to live up to it’s title. Being so integral to the Xbox, the next installment comes with a title and not just a number, Halo 5: Guardians. Ross ensures that 343 Industries, is “taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the “Halo” game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.”

Halo 5With Halo 5, 343 was tasked with taking the series to the next level. Utilizing the capabilities of Xbox One’s new technology, they hope to create environments that feel much more alive than they have before. Master-piecing ecosystems that are truly worthy of a next-gen title. This title is working on a brand new engine built from the ground up. This shouldn’t be terribly surprising as most installments run on brand new engines each time, save for Halo 3: ODST and Halo Anniversary.

343 is also taking this time to prove to the Halo fans that they are worthy of continuing this franchise through the knowledge of the universe as well as the talents at the developers’ studios. Ross promises that Halo 5 is a much larger effort than what was in Halo 4. Using it’s predecessor as a spring board of learning they will continue to improve upon the technology, performance, aesthetics and scale, In doing so, they are pushing for a 60 frames per second game; no word yet on resolution.

Also joining this announcement is the update on the Spielberg produced television series that is expected to be coinciding with the game. The series is meant not only to appease the fans who have desperately wanted to see Halo in the live-action sense, but also to enrich the experience of the game. One could only see this similar in the sense of Marvel creating movies with SHIELD coinciding on television. The series is expecting a Fall 2015 air-date, as well as the game being released around the same time.

Ross finalizes the post stating that there will be more news at this years E3 presentation, June 9th.
