PC compatible Kinect hits the marketplace for release this month

This month will see the release of the Xbox One’s 2.0 Kinect ‘standalone windows-compatible’ device.

The ‘doors’ have opened for pre-orders to be placed with release date being 15 July 2014.

The fact here that most people will find surprising is the price for the unit – $199 !!

This device is designed to work with the Kinect for Windows Software Development Kit 2.0, which is not yet available. This software will be available in beta form some time later this month. We are not sure of exactly when however it’s fair to assume it will be around the date of the devices release.

This definitely something that is aimed more for developers than the average gamer and raises a lot of questions about the direction that Kinect gaming is headed in and just how far the inclusion of PC gaming will be integrated.
