UPDATED: Free-to-Play MMO: Neverwinter, headed to Xbox One
Today a new update has been provided on the information I brought to you yesterday. As info is only just starting to leak through about this upcoming MMO I suspect we will get quite a bit of new info over the coming days.
Yesterday the initial reports simply said that this game was only coming to the Xbox One in China.
Today we learn that the free-to-play MMO published by Perfect World Entertainment and developed by Cryptic Studios will in fact be coming to North America and Europe in the first half of 2015.
Perfect World has stated that Neverwinter is “coming to consoles, starting with Xbox One” so this could also mean that we might see a release for the PlayStation as well.
“Consoles are a perfect fit for action-oriented MMORPGs like Neverwinter, and we are thrilled to be one of the first publishers to bring premium free-to-play titles to leading next-gen platforms. Being able to bring Neverwinter to the Xbox One is a critical achievement for Perfect World. It is our first step taking our games beyond the PC market.” – Perfect World CEO Alan Chen

Original Story:
The release in China is scheduled for September this year with an internal testing event currently under way. This news was confirmed by the biggest Chinese console forum, A9VG. I wouldn’t worry about heading to their page unless you speak Chinese though!
If you are not familiar with Neverwinter then take a look at this STUNNING cinematic trailer below.
There is a certain Elder Scrolls meets The Lord of the Rings feel to the trailer but it’s spectacular none the less.
In the PC version that has been out for about a year now, you can venture around the city of Neverwinter as one of 6 different characters with a team of up to 5 players.
Perfect World’s CEO Xiao Hong has previously advised that at least 2 Xbox One titles are being developed by its Chinese and overseas studios so the chances of an announcement for Neverwinter in other regions seems quite likely.
