Xbox Gold not required for EA Access

Last week EA revealed their new service of EA Access exclusively for the Xbox One.

Since that reveal one of the biggest questions has been whether or not Xbox Gold subscriptions would be required to use EA Access. An EA representative spoke with Polygon confirming that it would not be required.

“EA Access doesn’t require an Xbox Live Gold subscription,” said the EA spokesperson. “However, in order to use multiplayer functionality for games in the vault or EA games on Xbox One you’ll need a Gold subscription per usual.”

It would be safe to assume that you will still need access to to the internet in order to utilize the service.

In a recent update, Microsoft relinquished a paywall within Xbox Live allowing services such as Netflix and Hulu to be used without a Gold subscription.
