Xbox One August Update Starting Roll-Out Today!

As reported last month, there are load of new features headed to the Xbox One this month, and rollout has begun across servers today.

If you have forgotten what wondrous treats are headed your way here is an update from Major Nelson:

For those that prefer a quick written update, here are the key features:

Mobile purchase:

Xbox SmartGlass will now allow you to remotely purchase games and add-on content. If your console has background downloading enabled, your console will begin downloading your purchase and it will be ready and waiting for you when you get home.

Activity feed updates:

You will now have the ability to post text to your feed, and to “like” and comment on feed items. You will be able to share game clips and other items in the feed with friends either publically or privately. A notification will be received when anyone likes, comments or shares your items.

Low battery notification:

You will now get a notification when your controller battery is getting low saving you from those unnecessary deaths due to a flat controller mid game.

Disable notifications during video:

For those who like to capture your game play, this is a great feature, it will mean no more notifications interupting you.

Enabling 3D Blu-ray:

The Blu-ray player app will now have 3D Blu-ray functionality on Xbox One.

Last seen time in Friends list:

Your friends list will now show how long it’s been since a friend has been online.
