Phil Spencer takes on the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ & challenges Yoshida, Newell & Fils-Aime in return

Yesterday Xbox King Phil Spencer was nominated to take on the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ by Markus "Notch" Persson. Today – he completed that challenge.

The lucky two people you see standing behind Phil Spencer about to cover him in icy cold water are Major Nelson and Jeff Rubenstein.
The challenge has now been passed over to Xbox’s rival, Shuhei Yoshida and also to Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime and the boss over at Valve, Gabe Newell.

Have you been wondering what all this ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ stuff is about?

This is a campaign to raise funds for research and awareness of ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

Please follow the link to the ALS Association website to make a donation to help find a cure for this horrible disease, and also get behind those that are taking part in the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’. By making a donation and participating in this campaign you can help change the lives of those living with this disease.
