Goodbye Zombies, Hello Dinosaurs with Ark: Survival Evolved

Everyone likes a good survival game. There are many assortments from the survival horror of Slenderman and Alien: Isolation to true survival in games like DayZ, H1Z1 and State of Decay. Finally a new version of survival joins the rankings.

While zombie survival games can be pretty fun at times, there’s no denying that this is a bloated genre. Finally there is Ark: Survival Evolved, the dinosaur game that everyone has been waiting for, you just didn’t know. The game is expected to release on PC, PlayStation 4 [with Morpheus support] and the Xbox One.

The developer has set a pretty awesome description of what is available in the game

As a man or woman stranded naked, freezing and starving on the shores of a mysterious island called ARK, use your skill and cunning to kill or tame & ride the leviathan dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the land. Hunt, harvest resources, craft items, grow crops, research technologies, and build shelters to withstand the elements, while teaming up with or preying upon hundreds of other players to survive, dominate… and escape!

While specific details are still unknown, I can confirm that I witnessed a fire-breathing dragon at the end, which may entail that even mythological creatures may make an appearance? Maybe a Hydra as well?

In the trailer you can also see buildings to small forts being built, certain dinosaurs being used as “crane equipment” a la Flinstones as well as multiple different mounts in dinosaurs included pterodactyls and giant scorpions.

I’ll admit, I have been waiting for a good survival game to appear. With Jurassic World releasing this summer, surely this will only boost the excitement for such a game!

Steam users will be able to join Early Access to the game beginning June 2nd.
