Crash Bandicoot Returning To The PlayStation? (Rumor)

Earlier this week, a screenshot surfaced showing what appears to be hinting at a new Crash Bandicoot game being released this year.

Anyone who grew up playing the Crash games on the original PlayStation should be able to recognize that the silhouette is of Crash Bandicoot, and the very accurate font that has been used in the Crash games makes this seem real. Maybe too real?

The Naughty Dog logo is puzzling to me as they are busy working on Uncharted 4, so it is very unlikely that they’d actually be developing a new Crash Bandicoot game. However, I could see them maybe overseeing the project with an unknown developer developing the game, or there’s always the possibly of a remastered collection of the original games from the PS1.

Now, I’m trying my best to not get my hopes up too high since Activision still owns the rights to the Crash Bandicoot franchise, but if somehow a new Crash Bandicoot were to make its way onto the PS4, I would have to buy a PS4 as soon as humanly possible as I absolutely loved the Crash Bandicoot games on the original PlayStation.

With E3 right around the corner we will know soon enough if this is real or just an internet hoax.

  1. I’m not really looking forward to it. I have vivid memories of the reboot that single handedly killed the franchise for some people. Although HD remasters of the PS1 games would be amazing.
