Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (3DS)
What we have here is a mashup of the two Mario RPG franchises, so when Nintendo revealed this title at E3 this past year, I was freaking ecstatic for this game as I’ve always been a fan of the Paper Mario series, but I’ve honestly never played any of the titles from the Mario & Luigi series before.
Fire Emblem Fates (3DS)
For this Fire Emblem release Intelligent Systems has put together 3 complete different stores in the form of 3 complete games, similar to what the Pokémon titles do. I was excited for this game when it was first teased to us back in late 2014 or early 2015, I couldn’t wait for it to come out in the West as Awakening is my favorite title on the 3DS. February can’t come soon enough.
Bravely Second: End Layer (3DS)
This is the sequel to another one of my favorite games on the 3DS, Bravely Default, which felt like an old school, classic JRPG. I have been waiting for this to come out ever since the Japan announcement. Now while this hasn’t been officially announced to come to North America in 2016, it was released in Japan last year and other territories have 2016 release dates, so it’s not too farfetched that it’ll be out this year in North America as well.
Dragon Quest VII & VIII (3DS)
While I’ve never personally played a Dragon Quest game before, I have heard nothing but good things about the series, so I was happy to hear about these 2 DQ games FINALLY getting localized.
Just for clarification purposes, I do realize that these two games have been localized with their original releases on t he Playstation and PlayStation 2 respectively, but I’m just referring tot he 3DS versions of these games that hadn’t been localized yet.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (PS4)
Uncharted 4 marks the end of Nathan Drake & the Uncharted franchise. This was the game that made me go out and purchase a PS4, again. This is probably the only game that I’m super HYPED for on this list.
Far Cry Primal (XB1, PS4, PC)
Far Cry happens to be one of my favorite game franchises and my favorite FPS franchise after getting my hands on Far Cry 3, so needless to say when I saw there was a new Far Cry game is development, I became very interested, and even more so when I heard it was going back, way back, to the stone ages. I’m intrigued to see if Ubisoft can still capture the essence of what makes a Far Cry game is with this new entry.
Quantum Break (XB1)
Remedy has a high pedigree of putting out quality titles with the first Max Payne titles and Alan Wake under their belt, so when this was announced, I was like color me intrigued. With more and more being revealed, I become more and more interested in this game.
Horizon: Zero Dawn (PS4)
Guerrilla Games, the developers behind the Killzone franchise, bring us a new open world RPG IP, which is one I’m excited to play after the E3 reveal last summer. As someone who looks RPGs, this is one game that is definitely on my radar.
Gears of War 4 (XB1)
Everyone who knows me, knows that I’m a big fan of Gears of War. It was the reason that I didn’t give on the 360 after many RRODs. It is one of my favorite game franchises out there. I am very curious to see what The Coalition development team does for Gears of War going forward.
Ratchet & Clank (PS4)
This year marks the release of the reimagining of the original Ratchet & Clank game to coincide with the release of the movie. And priced at $40, makes this game that much more appealing, not that it wasn’t already appealing.
Pokken Tournament (Wii U)
A Tekken style fighting game with Pokémon, what more do you need Nintendo faithful? This is probably the closest that we’ll see to another Pokémon Stadium, so I’ll take it and it looks to be fun as hell.
The Last Guardian (PS4)
This game looks to be very unique & different from most games on the market, and one that I cannot wait to actually play.
Mass Effect: Andronmeda (XB1, PS4, PC)
After Mass Effect 2&3 being two of my favorites from last gen, I can’t wait to see what BioWare has in store for us with this next entry into the Mass Effect franchise.
Yooka-Laylee (XB1, PS4, Mac, PC, Linux)
As a big fan of 3D platformers, and just platformers in general, when I first saw this, I had to go throw some money their way for the Kickstarter project. This game is being developed from a new studio made up of many former Rare employees, who developed the Donkey Kong Country games, Banjo-Kazooie games & Diddy Kong Racing to name a few.
Unravel (XB1, PS4, PC)
Another platformer, which are kinda my thing, that I fell in love with after seeing it at EA’s E3 conference this past summer.
This War Of Mine: The Little Ones (XB1, PS4)
This War Of Mine is a game that I’ve eying for over a year, hoping that it’d make its way to consoles, and come later this month (January) it is. This is a survival based game, similar to games like Oregon Trail, set during wartime.
