Ark so far has been a game that has been able to be enjoyed by PC and Xbox gamers alike. One massive install base that has yet to get to play the game are the PlayStation owners who are steadily awaiting its console release there. It’s been a while since it was coming to the PS4 as well, so what is going on with it?
In a forum post, Lead Community Manager Jat let it be known that they are still working on the game for it’s full release. For PlayStation owners, this is when they can expect to be able to play the game because they will not allow for a continuously updated game that hasn’t fully released.
Hey Playstation Survivors,
We’d like to give our fans an update on what’s happening with ARK: Survival Evolved and Survival of the Fittest on the PS4 platform.
In a post outlined earlier on survivetheark, Survival of the Fittest development on console is currently put on hold until we are able to map out a longer-term road-map for the project. Our current focus is on the PC version of SotF, and its mod support, where it’s easier for us to iterate quickly. If you’d like to read more about this decision, you can check out this announcement:
As for the PS4 Release of ARK: Survival Evolved, it is currently up to Sony. We’ve been informed that we can’t release the game on this platform until it has been finished. We would like nothing more than to make ARK available on PS4 as soon as possible, as we already have an awesome PS4 version of the game running internally. If you would like to see it sooner, please let Sony know, as it’s unfortunately not our decision.
Thanks very much to all ARK fans and soon-to-be Survivors for your support!
All the best,
Wildcard Jat & the Studio Wildcard Team
This is most unfortunate as I have found Ark to be one of the few games that can maintain my attention. It’s not that other games are not worth playing it is just that I find Ark that appealing. The thing that is holding some games like these to be played on the PlayStation 4 console is that Sony does not have a preview program set up. Though with No Man’s Sky releasing tomorrow, PlayStation owners will have a similarly structured style game of open exploration and survival to play.
