Playstation Plus subscribers have reported maintenance being preformed, but that’s not the case. An elite group of hackers known as the Lizard Squad have attacked the PSN servers once again, as we recall the last time this happened was on August 6th.
You may be asking yourself, how does this happen? Simple! They are using a method known as a DDoS attack. DDoS is short for Distributed Denial of Service. DDoS is a type of DOS attack where multiple compromised systems, which are often infected with a Trojan, are used to target a single system causing a Denial of Service (DoS) attack.
What can you do against this to prevent it from happening? Nothing. Literally. How do they fix it?
Typically, they will have to figure out which IP addresses are sending data packets to them as part of the DDoS attack, and block them from accessing the system. Any halfway decent and effective DDoS attack tends to use a few million. Or more.
Nobody knows when these issues will be resolved, only time will tell. Yes, we all want to get back to playing the Battlefield 1 Open Beta, I know how you feel, trust me. Be sure to keep checking back for updates regarding the latest DDoS attack on PSN.
