Sonic Mania Packs A Punch Of Nostalgia

Yesterday, Sega graced us with the reveal of this very nostalgic looking collector’s edition for their upcoming Sonic game, Sonic Mania. It will make anyone who grew up during the Genesis era reminisce of that time period, just by looking at it.

This collector’s edition just screams of Sega Genesis nostalgia, as it uses a replica of a Genesis as the stand for the statue, not only does it look like a Genesis but it makes the classic Genesis startup sound, that was used in the original Sonic games when you flip the power on. There’s also a cartridge that resembles the carts that were used with the Sega Genesis, and it has a golden ring attached to it as well. Every Sega kid should be raging with feelings of nostalgia just by looking at this thing because I know that I am right now.

As of right now this sweet collector’s edition will only be available in North America and will run you only $70 (USD). If you are interested in this at all, I’d highly recommend placing a pre-order for this now as Sega said there will only be a limited number of these collector’s editions. Sonic Mania doesn’t have a release date yet, but Sega has given it a Spring of 2017 release window and will be released on the PC, PS4 & Xbox One platforms.

Sonic Mania is a return to the classic Sonic in terms of visuals and gameplay as it’s a 2D side-scrolling platformer, and all I can say is it’s about time, Sega. To keep the nostalgia ball rolling it will feature remixed classic stages such as Green Hill Zone to go along with brand new stages and zones, Sonic, Tails & Knuckles are all playable characters in the game.
