It’s Friday, November 11th and I bring you this week’s Nintendo News Roundup starting with the Amiibo update to Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Welcomes Amiibo
Nintendo released this major update for a game that was released 4 years ago, which to say the least is impressive. The update includes amiibo support, the campground area, and two minigames if you own the in-game Wii U & 3DS. There will also be new amiibo cards releasing in December for this new update. Owners of Happy Home Designer can link their save data to get exclusive items & features. If you happen to own any of the Legend of Zelda amiibos you can have Epona, Wolf Link, Medli and others move into your town.

Speaking of Amiibos…
Rumour has it that the final three Super Smash Bros amiibos (Cloud, Bayonetta, and Corrin) have been delayed to 2017 to release with a port of Super Smash Bros for Wii U on the newly announced Nintendo Switch. It’s rumored to be released in the first six months of the console and won’t be a launch title. Take all of this with a grain of salt as it’s all rumor at this point, except for the fact that the final 3 amiibos aren’t releasing this year.

Dragon Quest VIII: Release Date
After initially having a Q4 2016 release and then Nintendo delaying it until next year, we finally have a release date. DQ VIII will be releasing on January 20th of next year. DQ VII released earlier this year so that should hold you over until this releases next January.
NES Goes Small
Nintendo shocked the world when they announced the NES Classic Edition or often referred to the NES Mini, it was officially released today. This miniature NES has 30 classics ranging from Final Fantasy to Super Mario Bros to Metroid to the Legend of Zelda and much more. Unfortunately, it’s being reported that it is sold out everywhere, so hopefully, if you wanted one, you ended up getting one. If you didn’t I have a consolation prize for you. The manuals for all 30 of the games as Nintendo has made them available on their website.
Wii U’s Time Has Come
Nintendo has announced that they are ceasing production of the Wii U for the Japanese domestic market and Nintendo of America has stated, “We can confirm that as of today, all Wii U hardware that will be made available in the North American market for this fiscal year has already been shipped to our retail partners.” The Wii U has been Nintendo’s most unsuccessful home console to date but it brought titles to us such as Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros for Wii U & Super Mario Maker.
