Update: Much to our surprise, not only was Wildcard on time with the Turkey Trial, but they were EARLY! Kudos Studio Wildcard!
Original story unchanged below.
Ark is about to have several updates coming up that will have everlasting effects on how you play the game. In the end goal, Studio Wildcard plans to bring us the Tek Tier, in which futuristic-like suits for you and your dinos, as well as laser weapons among other ilk styled abilities will be joining us. However, that is in the long scope and there will be other changes happening in the meantime.
In the immediate timeframe, Survivors will be wrapping up the Fear Evolved 2 holiday event. If you haven’t accomplished all that you wanted to within this time, you will have until the 16th on the Xbox, and the 23rd on PC, to finish up. However, do not worry as Turkey Trial 2 will immediately replacing it.
Survivors will be given the opportunity to participate in the turkey-hunt of their lives. ARK: Turkey Trial 2 will throw survivors into a large-scale scavenger hunt and allow them to carve up the rare “Super-Turkeys” unleashed across the ARK! By harvesting sufficient Super Turkey Wishbones from these bloodthirsty, genetically-modified creatures, players can craft their very own stylish “Chieftain” Hat, or choose to summon the devastating DodoRex creature to do their bidding for a limited period of time. Brand new to this year’s event, you will also be able to earn custom event-themed emotes!
The event will be on all Official maps: Scorched Earth, The Center, and The Island. It all begins November 16th on Xbox and November 23rd on PC!
While there has been no notice of how long this even will run, we can speculate that the next holiday event will run immediately, or shortly after the Turkey Trial event. The next event slated to come to Ark will be the Christmas themed “Winter Wonderland [2?].”
If you tuned into the recent charity stream, you would have heard a lot of talk about the procedurally generated maps, or PGM. This update that give randomly created maps has already taken the PC platform by storm. In part of the reveal the team did suggest that PGM will be making its way to the console by the end of the year.
For PlayStation owners waiting and wondering if they will be getting the wonderful survival game anytime soon, need not fret! The PlayStation 4 version has since been announced and will also run on the PlayStation 4 and utilizing the abilities of the Pro. Since Sony does not offer any sort preview program, the details of when and how it will be delivered to the PlayStation are still unknown. More should be released in the next few weeks. If you listened closely during this time the developers seemed to be optimistic about the idea of cross-play between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, since both will be running the same version simultaneously. With fingers crossed, maybe Sony and Microsoft will let this game be its cross-play beta tester.
