Rainbow Six: Siege (Year 2 / Season 1)

As we all know, Ubisoft teased the first operation for Year 2 (or Season 2) of Rainbow Six Siege, called Velvet Shell.

Being the first big update of the game’s Year 2 content, Velvet Shell will add a new map and two operators from Spain. For those that don’t know how Rainbow Six Siege updates work: the map will be free to everyone, while the two operators will be free for Year 2 Season Pass holders (they can also be unlocked with Renown or R6 Credit).

Further details weren’t divulged — beyond the new preview trailer for the new map — but we do know that Ubisoft plants to stream a live demo of Velvet Shell on February 5, 2017 at 7 AM PST.

As mentioned above, a new trailer detailing the Operation’s new map — Coastline, which is located on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, Spain — has been released. Available in PVP and PVE, the following brief description of the map is provided:

Get ready for an effervescent night ambiance with neon lights of bars and open-air parties, which Ibiza is famous for. Daytime is a hazy afternoon on a hot summer day after a long night out.

Rainbow Six Siege is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can read more about the game’s Year 2 content here.

Below, you can check out the new trailer:

The new operators of Velvet Shell are as followed with their own video introductions below:

  • Jackal
  • Mira

Jackal:

According to Ubisoft, Jackal is an Operator focused on gathering intel on enemy positions and movements, and will make things more dangerous “for lone wolves roaming away from the team.” The operator comes with a special light-and-goggle combo on his head, which is what allows him to see enemy footprints on the ground.

Mira:

According to Ubisoft, Mira is all about demolition. She can plaster a breaching devices across reinforced barriers and walls, and blow them up. The explosions punch a perfect, rectangular murder hole through the barricade. Ubisoft says there is more to Mira, but you will have to wait until the Six Invitational, which runs from February 3-5 to see. The livestream will also serve as the full reveal of Velvet Shell.
