Vampyr: To Feed, Or Not To Feed

Vampyre is an upcoming action role-playing game being developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Focus Home Interactive. Platforms for this game include PC, Xbox One, and PS4. It is set to release in Q4 2017 and sounds like an interesting game based around historical events.

You play as Jonathan Reid, a new vampire who also happens to be a doctor. You have to protect your life from different vampire races and vampire hunters. Being a doctor gives you pretty good cover since this game takes place in 1918 London during the Spanish flu epidemic. However, some characters seem to sense some dishonesty in you.

Feasting on blood will restore your health and give Reid different abilities. It is said that there will be a way to beat the game without taking a single life, but you will not be able to acquire these abilities. You will be able to interact with many characters and figure out their daily routine, doing so will help you to get them in a spot where you are less likely to get caught drinking their blood. However, keep in mind that even if you don’t get caught, killing people will have consequences.

Just like Dontnod’s previous game “Life is Strange”, there will also be multiple dialogue options that change the course and ending of the game. There are four different endings so based on your dialogue choices and how many lives you take determines the ending you will get.

The developers even decided to get the best in-game atmosphere by traveling to London and taking pictures. Documentaries of events in the past were also referenced to make the game even more historically accurate. The gameplay I have seen so far looks incredible and I can’t wait to see all the cool things that this game will have.
