A Plague Tale: E3 Gameplay Amazes

A Plague Tale: Innocence is an action adventure game being developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Home Interactive. From what I saw at E3 it is a beautiful game that immerses you in 1349 France ravaged by the black plague.

plague3In A Plague Tale, you play as Amicia a 14 year old girl who takes care of her brother Hugo who is 5.  They have lost everything and are fighting for survival in this creepy, medieval, and huge world. You have to sneak your way through the inquisition and use your wit to defeat them. The area around you is swarmed with rats who hate light. There are so many that they will crawl on top of each other to get around. If there is no light source to repel them, they will eat you alive.

The gameplay that Focus Home Interactive showed me at E3 was incredible. Even the title screen made me excited for this game to come out. They showed how the game was a lot like a puzzle. You break the lanterns the guards are carrying to expose them to darkness and allow the rats to take care of them for you. You will also be able to have Hugo go and retrieve things for you in smaller spaces. You will have to find light sources to get you through corridors and tight spaces that rats will be blocking.

In the gameplay it was also hinted that things are not always what they appear to be and to watch where you are going. Focus Home said that the developers are still working hard on the game. When asked about boss fights they said there will be boss fights. It makes me curious to see what this game has in store for the players with its projected 10 hours of play time.

A Plague Tale is definitely something I will be keeping my eyes on. This game still has a TBA release date but they are shooting for Q4 2018. It will be available on Xbox, PS4, and PC. You can also keep up with updates from their Twitter accounts: @APlagueTale, @AsoboStudio, @FocusHome and their Facebook accounts by searching Focus Home Interactive, Asobo Studio, and A Plage Tale – Innocence.
