Fighting Game Roundup: Round 1! DragonBall, Tekken and Injustice 2!

There’s been a recent uprising of fighting games on the gaming scene! As a life long fan of the genre it’s fantastic to see them come back in such force. With releases such as Tekken 7, Injustice 2, Xenoverse 2 and the announcement of Dragonball Fighterz, it’s super easy to get excited.

Tekken 7

The recent news for Tekken 7 is pretty scarce unfortunately but what we do know is the first part of Tekkens DLC will be releasing very soon. That DLC will see the return of the fan favorite mode Tekken Bowl! It’s set to come out some time in august, unfortunately there isn’t a definite release day or price yet but, that information should follow very soon.

DragonBall FighterZ

Dragonball FighterZ was recently announced on the Microsoft stage at E3. It’s a game being developed by Arcsystem Works, the team behind the guilty gear series of fighting games. The game is set to release early 2018.

There was a recent scan in weekly Shonen Jump that confirms Trunks as being in FighterZ. Along with Trunks other characters confirmed are Goku, Vegeta, Teen Gohan, Fat Buu, Perfect Cell and Final Form Frieza with more characters to be announced. FighterZ will be a more traditional fighting game more akin to the Budokai series of old as opposed to the current Xenoverse series of games.

FighterZ is also a visually stunning game and that’s most assuredly because of ArcSystem and thier work. Thier games are always amazing looking with fantastic graphical style and great cutaway scenes adding tension and excitement.

Injustice 2

Injustice 2 has recently released to massive success continuing the line of amazing games being made by Netherrealm Studios. Injustice has been killing it with the recent influx of tournaments and competitions going on rapid fire. Alongside all of that they’ve been releasing steady content along with player friendly updates.

Netherrealm announced the first set of DLC characters not long ago, including Red Hood, Sub Zero and Starfire. Red Hood has been released for a few weeks now and Sub Zero released on june 11th. The rumor is that Starfire will be releasing on August 8th following the four week period between characters with an announcement of the next three characters to follow suit.

DragonBall Xenoverse 2

Dragonball Xenoverse 2 has been out for a year now and got the recent Super DLC Pack 4 which included new characters, story mode, missions and more. Bandai and Dimps said that the 4th DLC would be the last however, not even a week after it’s release they announced another one coming soon. The announcement of pack 5 sparked a flame of excitement in the community since fan requested characters didn’t make it in to Super Pack 4. Dimps, if you’re reading, we need Super Saiyan Rage Trunks and Tapion along eith2the traditional Angry Kamehameha as an Ultimate Attack.

That’s all we have for Round 1 of the fighting game round up. Again as fan of fighting games it’s a great feeling to see the genre rise back to prominence.
